At Energy – the leading trade show for integrated energy systems and mobility – ADS-TEC is showing its world leading 320 kW DC fast charging technology based on a battery storage system at the Hanover trade show at the Baden-Württemberg Pavilion (Hall 27, booth H75) from 23rd to 27th April 2018. This technology even makes the charging times in the low-voltage grid comparable to filling up with petrol. With its scalable battery systems for home, business, industry and infrastructure, the medium-sized family company provides professional energy solutions that optimally couple production and consumption and makes effective use of the existing distribution grid.

Based on many years of experience, ADS-TEC develops and produces high-quality lithium-ion battery storage systems including energy management systems. The product portfolio starts with 6 or 9 kWh storage capacity for home use, goes to 19, 28 and 47 kWh for larger units or commercial use and can reach the multi-megawatt range for industrial and infrastructure use. The modular design and a comprehensive IT management system facilitate nearly limitless scaling possibilities.

With electromobility, there will be a great demand on high power in the distribution grid. ADS-TEC today offers intelligent battery solutions that provide high power for fast-charging stations in the power-limited distribution grid.

320 kW “High Power Charger”: HPC booster and HPC dispenser
At this year’s Energy in Hanover, the company is presenting its world-leading HPC “High Power Charging” fast charging technology for existing and future e-vehicles. There is the extremely compact battery storage system “HPC Booster” – a large complete system including battery, inverter, climate control, control, energy management, security/firewall and communication unit at less than 2 cubic meters – and the fast-charging station “HPC dispenser” for a DC charging capacity of up to 320 kW. Thus, several hundred kilometres of driving distance can be charged in just a few minutes. The system is easy to integrate and uses the existing distribution grid effectively and without the need for costly network expansion. Both are new developments in cooperation with the Porsche Engineering Group. With its high-quality design, the charging system also fulfils representative purposes.

“PowerBooster” mini-container system
ADS-TEC offers a further complete solution with its outdoor battery system “PowerBooster” in its compact minicontainer which also delivers high power capacities at fast-charging stations while being recharged at low power at the available network connection point. This not only saves valuable time, but also eliminates the need for elaborate medium-voltage systems, building cost subsidies or expensive network expansion.

At the same time, the PowerBooster can be set up as a district storage system or grid service station almost anywhere outdoors and connected to the 400 volt distribution grid. Many useful network functions such as voltage stability, delay for optimum bandwidth utilisation, frequency regulation, reactive power supply or peak capping are possible with the storage system. Energy suppliers and local grid operators are already using PowerBooster successfully for temporarily overloaded distribution grids using volatile producers and consumers such as photovoltaic systems and e-vehicles.

Added value from the Cloud platform Big-LinX® from ADS-TEC
Owing to the particularly high energy density and the constantly high performance of all StoraXe storage systems from ADS-TEC, far-reaching utilisation concepts such as networking in swarm solutions are possible. Via the IoT service platform Big-LinX (also developed by ADS-TEC), distributed battery systems can be monitored, safely coupled and integrated into superordinate management systems and virtual power plants of customers. “Big-LinX Energy” includes various energy management tools. These tools provide support even during the planning phase, enable reliable guarantee promise in agreement with the cell manufacturers, perform monitoring, remote maintenance or data analysis during operation and offer numerous possibilities for future business models and integrations.

The value with the StoraXe systems from ADS-TEC lies firstly in the power-optimised hardware and secondly, but above all, in IT and the added value of Big-LinX Energy.
