VARTA Microbattery at the IOThings in Milan

Whether smart watches or fitness trackers – the wearables market is growing rapidly worldwide. Batteries are a strategic component of these devices. VARTA Microbattery will be presenting its products and solutions at this year’s IOThings in Milan, from May 16 to 17, 2017.

At this conference and trade show, you can find VARTA Microbattery in hall A2, booth 125. This two-day conference and trade showevent in Milan is devoted exclusively to the Internet of Things (IoT) and the best technical solutions for achieving it. On the first day, the company will also present its view of the market and its solutions in a conference talk.

CoinPower cells for Bluetooth applications
Batteries need to become smaller, lighter and more powerful, particularly for such applications as headphones, wearables and medical products. For these applications, VARTA Microbattery presents its CoinPower series. This product line comprises the CP 1254 A2 and CP 1654 A2, along with the latest addition, the CP 1454 A3. With a capacity of 85 mAh, a diameter of 14.1 millimeters and a weight of just 2.4 grams, VARTA’s newest microbattery meets customer demands for increased capacity and smaller size. Capacity-enhanced types CP 1254 and CP 1654 with a further boost in capacity were introduced in January. The potential applications for the tiny power packs are innumerable in the rapidly expanding areas of Bluetooth headphones, fitness trackers, smart watches and other wearable devices. Their cylindrical shape and high energy density make them ideal for these kinds of applications. Rapid recharging capability, high resilience and a sturdy design round out the profile of the PowerCoin series. To date, this series has generated six patents, including the i-Lock system, which together with the circular form enables an energy density up to 30 percent greater than any other comparable microbattery on the market.

The CoinPower series and its potential are also the subject of a talk by Andrea Ballarini, International Business Development Manager at VARTA Microbattery, on May 16, starting at 12:10 PM, as part of the concurrent conference proceedings.
